Need some design inspo? From urban renewal to tableware design, here are a selection of exciting projects from fellow designers across the industry.
Syksy Glassware
Marimekko, the renowned Finnish design house, has unveiled the exquisite Syksy glass collection in collaboration with Swedish designer Matti Klenell. The collection offers mouth-blown tumblers, goblets, and carafes that beautifully blend two-dimensional patterns with three-dimensional shapes, evoking a sense of silent calm and unique expression. It’s fascinating how something as simple as raindrops can be translated into such fine and exquisite designs.
The last days of SPACE 10
A decade of groundbreaking design innovation comes to a close as SPACE10, the Copenhagen-based design office, concludes its remarkable journey. Collaborating with Ikea, SPACE10 has enriched the design world with speculative projects addressing climate change, social injustice, and more. Their work has sparked a culture of innovation within Ikea and includes initiatives like Bee Home, Ideal City, and Future Forest.
Products of Place
While on the subject of SPACE10, the design lab also collaborated with oio studio for “Products of Place”, a visionary exploration of how generative AI could revolutionise sustainable product design by using abundant local materials. Once created, these dinner plates and the materials used to make them feel new, but familiar.
Activity Zone in Chorzów
This multifunctional public park, born from the ruins of a military building, is a testament to imaginative design. I love how satisfying the bird eye view of the activity zone is, combining geometric shapes, textures, and a vibrant colour palette to create a whimsical space where nature and urban life harmoniously coexist.
