March has shaped up to be an exciting month for Rodd – and it’s certainly kept us busy. But it’s always important to fit in some time for design inspiration.
On that note, here are a handful of new innovations and exciting projects that have stopped me in my tracks.
Studio David Pompa I Ambra Toba collection
This collection blew me away – no pun intended!
Volumes of ancient stones and volcanic debris combine to craft a series of light sculptures that celebrate the movements and weathering of the Mexican ‘toba volcanica’ stone.
I love the contrast created by the roughness of the stone and the modernity of the materials and curves.
Cody Dock Rolling Bridge
Just when I thought I’d seen everything…
The Cody Dock Rolling Bridge is a one-of-a-kind footbridge that rolls like a bale of hay and can be moved by human strength alone.
Created by over 5,000 volunteers led by the GasworksDockPartnership, this feat of engineering is not only giving a new lease of life to a neglected part of London, but it’s also creating a vibrant and dynamic hub for creativity to flourish. Plus, the mechanics of the bridge are utterly mesmerising!
Kana I Kitchenware
You don’t have to be a star baker to appreciate Kana’s new collection.
Every detail in the design is deliberate; the material, size and finish combine to create a timeless range that encapsulates the brand identity: versatile, elegant, durable and sustainable.
Finally, each item is beautifully packaged to create a premium feel. If that wasn’t enough, Kana offsets 100% of the carbon emissions released as a result of shipping items, and invests in projects that reduce carbon emissions by the same amount.
