When Goodmans asked us to create a breakthrough in a crowded category, we worked closely with the team to design a category-defining soundbar that blends product performance and contemporary style.
Building on their success in sourcing high quality soundbars, Goodmans made the bold decision to develop their own.
Of course, the crowded category and a sector dominated by larger brands offering soundbars as a companion to a SMART TV purchase posed a problem for the brand.
As a critical first step, we worked with the Goodmans team to identify potential avenues in which the brand could bring unique value.
The result is Aspect - a compact soundbar that can be positioned both horizontally and vertically, with users able to easily switch between the two formats courtesy of the soundbar’s smart magnetic base.
This beautifully simple piece of experience design ensures that users have complete flexibility in positioning their soundbar in a way that best suits their entertainment space and style.
Plus, the digital audio processors adjust according to Aspect’s orientation to deliver exceptional cinema-style room-filling sound and an elegant use experience.
The addition of Bluetooth connectivity with NFC Tap & Pair means consumers are not restricted to using Aspect as just a soundbar, but can also stream their favourite music from smartphones or tablets.
This approach further supports the Goodmans design strategy we had developed previously with the brand. The brand wanted to extend their reputation to emerging consumer electronics categories and appeal to a younger generation of consumers through a hybrid of beauty and simplicity.
Through a combination of industrial design and exceptional experience design, we helped Goodmans create differentiation in a crowded category.
